Concept:

To accommodate the world-class cultural facilities for Dhaka North Civic Centre and the tower for DNCC office required a functional volume of 872,000 SFT, in the compact site area of 2.295 Acre. This necessitated to design the much-needed community and open spaces into many vertically stacked volumes.

The design concept emerges from the idea of spreading urban scale community spaces with flowing natural vertical landscape across the form in multiple levels. The civic activity spaces are spatially interconnected and harmoniously merged into to an internal grand plaza which is inviting, accessible and connected with zones via pedestrian paths from all three street edges. As a result, a regional market place with blended civic facilities in the most corporate urban node of Dhaka city breathes new energy to the urban dwellers.

The project is a representation of unity through interaction, assembling commercial and civic facilities together. Located along with three-street edges and adjacent to the Gulshan 2 Circle, the Mixed-use building has been designed with efficient vertical circulations across Five key locations addressing accessibility from all surroundings of the site. All the partitions are removed and the internal public space is opened towards the urban sprawl. The entrance, for instance, is immediate: a flight of steps from the sidewalk directly leads to the central plaza. All floors are accessible by generous vertical circulations in five key interactions of the circulation layout.

CONCEPT :

-Interior Design Of STUDIO TRIKON ARCHITECTS
-Trikon Architects is an architectural practice based on Dhaka,Bangladesh.Initiated in 2015,the studio is now a dynamic workplace for a team of 16 members, mostly young architects. At the brink of 2019 the office has seen a substantial increment in their work, especially in the building design and consultancy sector. The masterminds of the studio has decided to expand the team as well as a more vibrant and inspiring workplace for it’s enthusiastic young professional team. However, the search for a new studio setup bought a number of constraints. The newly selected office space is a 1350 sq-ft ground floor apartment, which has lack of natural lighting and the most critical issue was to accommodate the increased number of employees. In addition, the old building doesn’t allow much structural and internal modifications in it’s existing layout.
The struggle for creating collective zones in a single space turned out the idea of multilayring of services, storage and displays all through the three dimensional volume of the space.
Apart from the idea of connectivity and thought exchange, the design concept also promotes individuality a personalized space for each designer to engage into the work in his/her own domain.Besides, the color, texture and the designed luminous environment has transformed the studio into the joyous, ecstatic, cheerful and energetic space for all the creative minds engaged into the journey of Trikon Architects.

PROJECT CONCEPT

The Commercial Cum Residential Mixeduse project is located along the busiest highway of Rajshahi City. From the survey of the site it appeared that the traffic noise is extreme throughout the day and night, which might cause acoustical discomfort for the dwellers in future. The design of the project has a substantial response to this noise problem of the site. The grand concrete façade has been designed to protect the street traffic noise and to ensure a comfortable indoor environment. Vegetation in three different levels also defuse the noise level and additionally provide visual relaxation for the occupants.
The commercial floors are arranged in the lower section, where the upper 5 levels containing the residential units. Designed on a site area of 3161.19 sqft
, the project has a significant aspect of separating vertical circulations and entrance for the commercial function and the residential use. Functional arrangement of the residential units ensure cross ventilation, proper lighting and noise free indoor environment through an intelligent façade system.
Apart from its site constraint, functional, climatic aspects, the Mixeduse building has an elegant street scale and aesthetic fenestration to create an image of the city.

Head Office Of DESCO

Competition Project
HEAD OFFICE OF DESCO
C O N C E P T U A L B R I E F

Design idea of DESCO Head Office building consist of three coherent aspects. Those are the public relationship strategy which represents DESCO as an identical organization, how the building is contributing to the messy vitality and scarce of Dhaka city and Environmental sustainability. The project reflects a wide spectrum of approaches to design an environmentally sustainable building. Indeed all different strategies have been taken in consideration based on the careful synthesis and analysis of micro climatic ingredients associated with the projects context. Overall planning, orientation and composition of forms and fenestrations are designed to make the building partly naturally ventilated in summer and passive heating in the winter. Fenestrations orientation of the form have been designed from the research of contemporary passive design strategies. The design strategies create opportunity to be a very low energy consuming building. Along with the environmental system the materials used for this project are all low embodied energy materials. Provision of rainwater recycling and clean energy generation also considered from the very beginning of the planning process.

The design concept also integrates the social sustainability, an effective strategy for place making and promoting the scope for creating a secular community in a highly diversified city. The highly dense population and deficit of land has turned the city into an urban mayhem. The city is starving for public spaces. In the planning process of this project creating urban public gathering spaces was highly prioritized. The site street square facilitates two major roads in both side, where a pedestrian connectivity with ample of activity spaces and green zone has been developed. The pedestrian activity offers the project to be a part of the urban sprawl and also engage people with different tires of function of the building. The concept of connectivity literally makes the project vibrant and very importantly a contribution to the scarce of public space of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Apparently the design is highly responsive to its site surroundings. Building orientation and form designed to create a coherent street scale with the low rise block alongside the project site.

The idea of connectivity also represents DESCO as a public service company. Connecting people with the building creates opportunity to make the building personalized, which getting people engaged with DESCO. Being a public service company of Bangladesh Government the power of connectivity promotes DESCO to be a more reliable and trustworthy organization.
